Potato Please Wiki: Controls, Money and Endings

A Potato Please reference for controls, potato prices, upgrade costs, all 20 achievements and the three train endings.

Last Updated: 2026-11-05

This Potato Please wiki is the reference shelf for the game: the default controls, the real upgrade prices, the 60,000-potato quota, all 20 achievements, and the three train endings. It is not a step-by-step route; use the full walkthrough → for that. Everything below is based on the 1.0.1 build and the live Steam achievement list.

Potato Please released on November 3, 2026 for Windows. It is a single-player, first-person peeling game from Golden Horn Studios. The store price is $8.99 after a 10 percent launch discount, and the game supports full controller input, Steam Cloud, and family sharing.

What are the default controls?

Action Keyboard and mouse Controller
Move W A S D Left stick
Look Mouse Right stick
Peel or cut Hold left mouse button Hold right trigger
Throw potato Right mouse button Left trigger
Pick up, interact, feed dog E A or X
Journal and skills Tab View or Back
Repile the potato mountain R D-pad down
Sprint Shift Left stick click

The 1.0.1 patch fixed a nasty input bug where a connected wheel, pedals, flight stick, or virtual joystick could make the character walk forward on its own or block WASD. If you still see drift, unplug the extra device and rebind after the game has detected the keyboard again. Invert Y now affects only the camera, not the peeling motion.

Tremor assistance is a settings issue, not a difficulty issue

The game has a hand-tremor setting. Turning it up does not change the quota or the money multiplier. It only changes how much the knife wobbles, so use it if you are fighting the cursor.

How much is a potato worth?

A clean potato is worth roughly $0.50 at base value. A full sack of 48 potatoes is worth about $25 before streak bonuses and waste penalties. The exact payment depends on the shift, the difficulty, and how many potatoes you ruined.

Item Base value Notes
One clean potato about $0.50 Delivered to the chute
One full sack about $25 48 potatoes
Streak bonus every 5 potatoes Adds a multiplier to the run
Hard mode 50 percent payment No peeling tolerance
Wasted potato reduces payment Deep cuts and dropped potatoes

The important number is not the price per potato. It is the cost of a wasted trip. If you carry 30 potatoes and ruin six, you lose more than the price of a Steel Knife. The money guide → breaks down the streak and waste math.

What does every upgrade cost?

These are the terminal prices recorded during a full 1.0.1 playthrough. Prices rise for repeated machine purchases, so the second Auto Peel Machine is $420 and the third is $630.

Upgrade Price What it does
Rusty Knife $0.30 Starting blade, slow and imprecise
Steel Knife $2.70 Cleaner cuts, less waste
Kitchen Table $12 Larger board and deeper raw-potato slot
Crank Peel Machine $20 Hand-powered peeler
Auto Peel Machine $280 First electric peeler
Sack Gantry $280 Sends full sacks to the emptiest machine
Wheelbarrow $210 Carries twelve sacks
Sack Cableway $1,250 Moves sacks across the yard
Claw Crane $2,100 Lifts and moves potato piles
Crane Autopilot $1,700 Automates the crane
Potato Vacuum $2,800 Tool-slot vacuum with 1,000-potato capacity
Overclock $1,400 Doubles every peeling barrel
Carry Capacity from $250 Increases the number you can carry

The full upgrade order → explains which purchases pay for themselves and which are traps. The short version: Carry Capacity first, Steel Knife early, Crank as a bridge, Auto Peel Machine as the real unlock, and Crane Autopilot only after the line is already moving.

How many achievements are there?

There are 20 achievements. Four are hidden or easy to miss: Unauthorized Passenger, Your Own Executioner, No Escape, and A Heart of Gold. The live unlock rates range from 100 percent for First Cut to 1.5 percent for Unauthorized Passenger.

Achievement group Count Examples
Story and shift 6 First Cut, Warmed Up, The Quota
Peeling milestones 5 A Thousand Peels, Ten Thousand, Old School
Automation 3 Industrial Revolution, Fully Automated
Endings 4 For the Motherland, The Last Harvest, Traitor
Hidden and optional 2 Unauthorized Passenger, Your Own Executioner

The full achievement checklist → lists the exact unlock condition for every one, including the four ending achievements and the manual-peeling counts. If you only chase one hidden achievement, start with Unauthorized Passenger; it is the most mechanical and the least ambiguous.

What are the three endings?

The train at the end of the Iron Door offers three routes:

  • Line 01, Northern Front: For the Motherland. Report as a loyal worker.
  • Line 02, Varenka: The Last Harvest. The village does not collect the potatoes, and the worker is sentenced.
  • Line 03, Western Industry: Traitor. Report the Ministry, which falls but is replaced by a council that bans opposition.

Finishing all three on one profile unlocks Every Path Has a Price. No Escape is a separate perimeter trigger, not a train route. Your Own Executioner is still unconfirmed. The ending guide → explains the choices and what the game actually records.

What is not in this wiki?

There is no multiplayer, no code system, and no separate character roster. Potato Please is a single-player game with one depot, one worker, and one dog. The store lists Windows only, so there is no PlayStation or Xbox version to compare. The game does have full controller support and cloud saves.

The review → covers whether the $8.99 price is justified after the 1.0.1 fixes. The patch notes page → lists every change that affects controls, the crane, and the quota.
